Press statement in relation to "interference"

Mr Keshminder Singh has told the press that I had interfered with the assigning of councillors to their zones. He made the statement when asked about his objection to my presence at the council’s table during the recent MPSJ full board meeting.

I had earlier told the press that I was ready at all times to explain on his allegation. Here is my explanation:-

After the swearing-in of councillors, I asked the YDP of MPSJ if the councillors’ zones have been confirmed. YDP then informed me that I could propose the names of the councillors for the Subang Jaya zone.

There are 5 zones under Subang Jaya. I had proposed the followings:-

(1) Theresa Ratnam Thong (NGO)
(2) Datuk Dr. N. Subramaniam (NGO)
(3) DAP
(4) PAS
(5) PKR

Priority had to be given to the two NGOs representing the residents’ associations and jawatankuasa penduduk in the Subang Jaya constituency. My justification for this is simple – it makes no sense for these two NGOs to be assigned to a zone outside of the Subang Jaya area since they have been serving in the residents’ association and jawatankuasa penduduk in this area and are thoroughly familiar with the issues here.

I was then informed by MPSJ that Mr Keshminder Singh (PKR) and another PKR councillor insisted to be in the Subang Jaya zone. As a result of this, Datuk Dr. N. Subramaniam who represents the USJ Residents’ Association has now been assigned to a zone in Seri Kembangan.

This is the final list of the Subang Jaya zone and the councillors had their way in the zones they wanted as below:

zone 1 (SS12 – SS19, Taman Wangsa Baiduri) - Theresa Ratnam Thong (NGO)

zone 2 (PJS 7, 9 and 11, Taman Sunway Utama) - Chia Yew Ken (DAP)

zone 3 (USJ 2 – USJ 15) - Ismail Kamal b. Abdul Rahman (PKR)

zone 4 (USJ 1, Taman Subang Permai, Taman Subang Mewah, Taman Perindustrian Subang) - Roslan Shahir b. Datuk Mohd Shahir (PAS)

zone 5 (Taman Perindustrian Hi-Tech, Taman Perindustrian SIME UEP, Taman Subang Mas, Taman Batu Tiga, Kg. Rantau Selamat) - Keshminder Singh (PKR)

Speaking up for the residents in my constituency does not amount to “interference” as alleged by Mr Keshminder Singh. I was merely performing my duty as the state assemblyman for this area. I hope this statement will clarify the matter. Again, I am saying that one small plug point issue has led to allegation that I am in the business of "interfering" with councillors' zone and that is inaccurate. I do not want to waste more time on this issue as I have repeatedly said that I have more pressing issues to attend to.

I totally agree with Hannah on the above. My family resides in USJ. We definitely would want a fellow USJ/SJayan to represent us in the council!

Hannah my dear,

Why must PKR get this mong, Keshminder Singh to be a councillor?? Are there no other able alternatives than this insecure gimp?

Keshminder Singh is a nobody who is just craving for some attention. Give this small minded gimp a title and some level of authority and you will end up with an obnoxious fool.

I agree with anonymous above. Empty vessels make the most noise. People who are given a little power act that way because they have never had real authority and power. Those who do, handle themselves very differently, with quiet assurance and a lot of humility. Kesh has none of that finesse.

Stick with the meat and potatoes issues. Let Kesh believe his own infantile bluff that he's important over seating arrangements and who gets to win the musical chairs game.

Was Keshminder Singh sober when he attended the meeting? Maybe he can work better with a few jugs of beer, Cheers

The petty attention seeking tactics of Keshminder Singh reflects poorly on the political judgement of MB Khalid.

We have no need of the likes of Keshminder Singh in our councils.

Shame on you, MB Khalid.

To all in MPSJ (including those who just want to use a plug point),
Let's all get on with the business at hand and not give importance to petty & non value adding issues such as these. Each councillor and ADUN should ask themselves how they have value add in their job function. 'Respect' initially comes with the Chair and eventually must be earned. Let this politician 'menang sorak' (hollow victory); let him make a fool of himself and just ignore him. He is just wasting everybody's time. I am glad he is not representing my area.

Hannah,
I wrote the following to the STAR but it was not published....

"It saddens me that the newly appointed councillor, refered to in the article does not really understand his role and responsibilities. As a councillor, he should concentrate more on his job within the council and community during the meetings than picking on such irrelevant matters.
The fact that an elected representative of the people had taken the effort to sit-in as an observer should be applauded. As a guest at the meeting, the YB or for that matter any other concerned resident, that attends the meetings, should be treated as a guest. In our culture, we treat our guests with respect and will provide them with all necessary necessities to make their visit comfortable.
Therefore, when staff members of the council gave her the seat where a socket is available for her laptop, there is nothing inappropriate about it.
The fact that the councillor brought up the matter, either for reasons of embarassing the YB or whatever reasons, is most inappropriate.
I pray that such incident will not happen again, and that councillors will concentrate on more important matters. The MPSJ council is not a place for playing politics and the role of the councillors is to serve the community. If any councillor feels that they cannot accept such a role and responsibility, ie serving the community; than they should do the right thing and resign. The council is not an avenue for the councillors to glorify themselves or be used as a platform for political advancements."

Move on, continue with what you are doing......be focused! Place the interest of the people in your constituency first: forget the politicking, you are way above that!

God Bless!

It is quite eye-opening decision that Datuk Dr N Subramaniam as a USJ RA rep has been assigned to Seri Kembangan...

My geography hasn't failed me I hope... but between USJ and Seri Kembangan... there is a Puchong sitting in between...

Mmmmm... it's like the Penang CM lah... a Malaccan moving all the way up north... ;)

Anyway... several ADUNs had seen complaining about the councilorships... that the government has set up all the tough guidelines for ADUNs to select and nominate, but ended up most of the councilors "backdoor" into the local council... ;)

YB Yeoh, can I suggest that you lay the matter to rest please?
Just turn the other cheek to this issue. It would be good, if you could have a meeting with Keshminder Singh (but go with 2 3rd party - say a DAP & a PKR member, and have a face-to-face. Get this solved b4 it blows up to a time wasting but energy sucking problem.

Kindly focus on what can be done for your constituents in the coming recession or economic downturn.

Please focus on micro finance opportunities, get the people who are not working to start small economic projects which can generate some income. As long as there is the proverbial chicken in the stove, and rice in the pot, people will be happy.

By the way, commenters, kindly refrain from snide hurtful remarks of beer guzzling, etc. We dont need that.

It's time to do our best for our country and not worry bout self.

oh come on with it already - this issue has long been forgotten...

Hi Hannah Yeoh,
By looking at the face of the Keshminder Singh, it is written very well that he is just one empty tin that make the most noise. Who is he ? Any work done by him so far or just to collect fees as a councilor!
Forget him for good

It might be timely for the State Government not to look only at the councilors but also all the members of the JKP to make sure they are not bankrupts, ongoing criminal/commercial crimes cases and that they have the support of the people they say they represent.
It is not good enough for individuals to boast about who they represent...they should REALLY be representing people instead of being one-man vigilantes.

Mr Anonymous Teo, I concur with you that those who are bankrupt , or have any criminal record should not be a Councillor nor a coucil member in the JKP, if you know of someone who fits that allegation , please name the person and at the same time providing your name and contact so that you can be taken to court if you are just a jealous gas bag, for defamation. It is easy to hide behinde an anonymous and make false allegations.Stand up and be counted.

You are wrong that I am a one man vigilante , we are a group that works as a team and our strategy is to see and tip off and coincidentaly I happen to be around most of the time and the record speaks without glory as saving a strangers life at the expense of your own is no dead hero glory. There are some who needed image building by getting the adun to call the media and received free heavy duty torchlights which was tax payers money, what happened to those lights. Dont be jealous of our success at least we are not illegally carrying out activities contrary to MPSJ regulations.

We have a success story at SS14RA, come and see our well documented records and activities we had carried over the last 10 years. Perhaps, your constipated memory had failed you again that we were the first RA in the whole of SJ/USJ and others followed our success story and we are happy for them while some were trying to destroy us by making false allegations.

We are just unpaid volunteers helping our fellow neighbours in their time of need. The police have invited us to be on the committee for community policing with them, they invited us based on our track record in helping them fight crime without some free heavy duty torch lights.

My earlier post was not personal, I would have defended the same if it was Chong, Aziz or Samy. Constructive critcism is good but getting personal by calling names and insulting Kesh was not a polite thing to do.

So, Mr Anonymous Teo, identify the culprits in the council with criminal records so that we can flush them out but please post your details incase you need to be sued in a court of law for defamation..

We belong to the one RACE, The Human Race, lets respect and beget respect...

To all our muslim neighbours, Selamat Bulan Puasa and to the rest, our prayers for you and your loved ones to be safe and healthy always. God Bless... I dont have any enemies, if you are one, please call me, I would like to buy you teh tarik , perhaps Sugumaran will be convenient .. Cheers ... case closed

PS>> for your info Kesh does not consume alcohol, he has no ill feelings against you and he still respects Hannah as a friend.

My dear

You need not have given this guy the dignity of a response. He is a lime light seeker. Just ask anyone at the Real Estate Institute of Malaysia and they will tell you the kind of pest he is.

So, let him call the press conferences and let him say what he wants. Just don't wate your time.

Now considering you are earning taxpayer's money, I would say the time you spend responding to this character, is a total waste of taxpayer's money!

And Kesh, go get a life man!

Hi Hannah

I believe all these nonsense churned up from individuals are just a way they past their free time.
No matter how much effort is put in to do good work by others, these sort of people do not see or acknowledge it.
All it matters to these people is THEY DID IT and no one else matters.
I believe so long as we continue to fight for the good of the community, the truth will prevail.
Keep up the good work.
Ignore the insignificant publicity hungry individuals who have no other way to generate "face" for themselves except to run others down.
They can keep shooting in the dark..and one day feel the pain in their toes caused by self-inflicted "gun-shot" wounds...

We work for the community and we do it face-to-face, good or bad...we don't need to stoop to their ways of back-stabbing people while maintaining their "I am better than thou" attitude.

Sepandai-pandai tupai melompat, ia akan jatuh ke tanah juga.

And Joe Singh...welcome to cyberworld...it's a surprise to see you here...hopefully you will be able to contribute more in this arena...cheers man

Dear Hannah,

There will always be creatures out there that belittle what you do. You have and continue to prove yourself as a vibrant Wakil Rakyat and one can only hope that other WR have the fervent desire and drive to do what you are doing for SJ. Although I do not live in SJ (as I am working overseas), I have a home in USJ and in the month that I was back for holidays, there change taking place. To those who only know how to undermind Hannah's work, calling each other names and challenging each other as though we are kids, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Hannah is a model of a new generation that we could all learn from and work together with her to achieve the goals of SJ. All the best Hannah and God Bless You and your work.

I believe ADUN Hannah had spoken enough and she have more pressing issues rather than arguing whether it is appropriate for her to sit.

Hannah has our support and she is sincere in her job to help the poor, helpless and the needs of her constituency.

The constituents know your aspirations and sincerity and therefore Keshminder from now stop his allegations. It will help nobody.

You should have shown them the right way to govern, making your work and effort do the talk, rather than 'layan' people like Khir Toyo who is now the big time murai of BN.

I was interested to see the way your party would do to change the way we are governed, but so far, you just cannot impress me just by making statements all the time in the papers
