The best is yet to come

So many people have been telling me just how frustrated they are with the current political situation in our country. Some have told me that they regretted voting for change because of the political instability now and would prefer returning to their old style of voting - vote for stability and forget about having a stronger opposition and greater check and balance. I shudder at the thought of this! One needs to remember the reason why we are seeing such great resistance for change is simply because there is much to lose for those who have been in power for so long. For decades there have been so much abuses of power, unchecked misuse of public funds and plain dirty corruption. With a stronger opposition now, they stand to lose their illegal sources of income and some may even be charged and sent to prison if they are found guilty. With this in mind, they will fight at all costs to reclaim back power and to ensure they can continue to steal public funds from the people for their own enrichment. We are not just dealing with differences in politics; we are combating evil forces who will not rest till they secure back their powers and illegal sources of income.

Sometimes I feel equally frustrated and disillusioned about the political situation too. Sometimes I lay awake thinking of how to effect change in this land. Some days I cry while driving in between meetings thinking of what's left for the future generation in this land if we give up now. I have endured much verbal attack from political enemies, accusation after accusation of me not doing anything for my constituents and etc. No one truly understands the resistance we face daily in discharging our duties except for my fellow PR assemblymen. Robert Kennedy once said ‘Progress is a nice word. But change is its motivator and change has its enemies.’ Our enemies are resisting change but we must stand firm and continue to push for a competent, accountable and transparent government. At the end of each day, as I lay myself to sleep, I ask God for strength, wisdom and protection to face the next. I look forward to the end of the term when I can tell the people of Subang Jaya that I have remained clean and have not stolen any of the taxpayers' funds. As reminded by Raja Petra in his blog "Please continue your struggle to make Malaysia a better place for our future generation. This country belongs to them and it is for them that we struggle." All hope is not lost. Come the next election, vote out the corrupt once and for all. Hang in there supporters and friends, the best is yet to come!

"I look forward to the end of the term"

I hope you're not going to quit after only one term?! We need people like you who are wiling to put in the hard work to put things right!

It's difficult now, but we have not yet hit rock bottom. At the rate things are going, things will have to get much worse, but it will get better.

These are but the birth pangs. A new Malaysia is about to be born!

It's definitely going to get worse before it gets better. The present bunch of ruthless crooks will meet their just ends one day, no doubt about it. I just wonder how much damage they will do before that day comes.

Hang in there, girl. The only thing I can offer you is my gratitute! :-)

Wait,

UMNO totally corrupted while DAP,PKR,PAS clean?

Makes sense?

Why not both ways? Those in power, are more tempted to money aren't they? You and fellow ADUNs from PKR and DAP are in power in Selangor now.

YB, you sure have created some hopefuls and wishful thinkers in Subang Jaya.

Stop being an Anwar yes man. Stop supporting Perak DAP Ngeh and Ngar.

You say 'whats left for our future generations'. I recalled the BN side said the same thing as well.

To a normal citizen, its just struggle of power between government and opposition. No 'EVIL' to one side please YB. You are better than that.

At least, you look your are better than that.

I hereby will cut my finger if you are not involved in any contracts awarding.

Guys,

I think we should seperate our ideals from our idols.

We can see how power corrupts and must be prepared to punish Pakatan Rakyat as well if they do not deliver on promises.

Darick,

i think the problem with Malaysia is that there are more ppl like you on UMNO's side. I think you will have to listen, think, analyse and evaluate information from both sides so you can make an informed choice.

People from UMNO never listen. Lets be different and have abit of class shall we?

be like hannah yeoh...eventhough she doesnt agree with what u say, she will defend your right to say it...at least thats what i hope.

What this nation needs is intellect. To be able to entertain thoughts without accepting them.

I don't bother which side are you from. If the party can deliver what is good for the people, nation and country. Then, does any parti-parti make any difference?

I am getting tire about the current politic situation in M'sia but I believe this is a sign of change and I am holding on to it.

Keep up the good work, Hannah.
May God be with you all the time.

When BN is attacking Pakatan Rakyat from all angles, all Malaysian are watching. Malaysian are not fool , and would make their own judgment on every action taken by BN.

BN may be able to bring down some leaders of Pakatan Rakyat, but new leaders of Pakatan Rakyat will surface and take over.In the meantime, more and more Malaysian will realize that their hope for better future is to support Pakatan Rakyat.

With this trend of Pakatan Rakyat getting more and more people supports from every dirty act of BN, how long can BN hold ?

There is old saying from China;

" Who win the hearts of the people , will finally win to rule the country"

Yes, the best is yet to come.

Dear YB Hannah,

Thank you for your thoughts. I always am encouraged by reading this blog. Can really hear your heart through postings such as these and it also reminds me how I should continue to hope and not give up... for the best is truly yet to come!

It has been really disheartening hearing the news these past few weeks but as I was thinking the other day of something I heard somewhere (sorry, not so canggih like the others got direct quotes etc.. :P)

When the night is darkest, there the Light will shine the brightest.

Even as there are times when things may seem like total darkness, I believe the light - that stands for Love, Truth and Justice will overcome the darkness. A time will come when the Light will shine... and Malaysia will be filled with "brightness" once more :D

This is my hope, and why I know, that the best is yet to come!

Don't give up just yet. You are an inspiration!!

Dear Hannah:

It took me some time to digest all of the Comments herein.

I sit back ... wondering, thinking, and with my fingertips on the keyboard...dont know what to write you....

Finally, I have this to tell you. Hannah Yeoh , I am with you and I am urging the rest of the ' awakened ' to be with you. Many of us are still sleeping and, maybe the comforts of life in an affluent society like us, have made us all complacent. Yet, there remains, still the ' conscience ' where God has put in men and women. We hear, we see all sort of things around us . Many of us has been very confused as to who to believe.

But, there is one thing, that we are for sure , to know , how the Rakyat has been made to pay into the cronies company out of the tolls, water and power concessionaries company. If you all care to look into the Balance Sheet of all these Companies, you will find a very common and pertinent FACT that is for every Net Billion Dollar they raised to Invest in all this , Each Year , they reap from you and me at Least another 1 Billion Gross and Much More. ( Average Net Income of their Balance Sheet will show like 47% per Annnum profit , after deducting a lot of their very own expenditures - high expenditures account ). And , they stand to rip us off for many years thru the Concessionaries running to 5, 10, 15 and upto 30 years or even more in the days to come !!

Wake Up All ! Wake Up !! Please Wake Up !! If you are so affluent, that you do not mind contributing your monies and your generations to come to pay to just a few of these Companies !!!! and , right into the pockets of the Connected !!!

Please Wake Up Citziens of Malaysia!

This period of political instability (I wouldn't go to THAT extend, probably just uncertainty) is needed for the nation to "grow up".

That said, one should have sufficient tangible evidence to substantiate "For decades there have been so much abuses of power, unchecked misuse of public funds and plain dirty corruption".

As an "occasional" SJ resident (when I'm back home that is), I think you're doing a good job and should seek another term in your office. I'm sure most if not all residents have seen some form of improvement.

Keep up the good work Hannah :)

Jesus called Satan the "father of all lies." The Bible warns "in the last days" evil men (and women) will be prevalent. Lying and deception (which are now called "spin") will characterize the generation (and the leaders) who will pull the world down into the dark abyss and terrors of the coming "Apocalypse" . . .
"But know this, that in the last days
perilous times will come . . .
Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving (lying) and being deceived."
(2 Tim 3:1, 13)

The Bible goes on to warn all those who call the things God calls evil, "good," and the things God calls good, "evil."

Hannah, all Malaysians can be proud of you for standing up for what is right in this fallen world. It would get worst. At the end of the day, your rewards would be in heaven. We honor your genuine work and God Bless your family.

It is sad about the attitude of some Malaysians. They say "Yes BN is corrupted but you will too when you are in power and can award Contracts" and do not give their support for change.
I hope PR can prove them wrong by having transparent processes in all financial dealings.
It will be difficult already with those UMNO and their lackeys in serious attempts to undermine Dato Khalid after Perak.

Those in high positions in society, who are obsessed with exceptional power, wealth and prestige, may live in constant fear of being toppled from their lofty heights. When they are criticised or attacked even in the slightest, they panic.

But the ordinary people, boasting neither position nor wealth, have to make their way through life by dint of their own effort and courage. They just do their best and give life all they have got. In other words, their victory is determined by their own strength of character, their qualities as a human being.
The arrogant rich and privileged may look down on them and try to exploit them. Nevertheless, the ordinary people are strong. Nothing can defeat them.
In contrast, those who rise to positions of importance and affluence in society through others' hard work and not their own are often the first to crumble in the face of trouble.
The ordinary people are great. The rakyat's voice is loud and clear.

YB Hannah, we will always stand by you. Keep up your good work. Yes, the best is yet to come!

Dear Hannah,

To share an article with you from CRAIG BRIAN LARSON.

Leaders have grand vision, and great visions are reached overnight.… Leadership by nature pushes against a high drag coefficient. Drag is the resistance air gives to the body of airplanes or automobiles as they move through air.… The drag on leadership is so great that it threatens to bring leaders to a grinding halt unless they have an extraordinary level of God-inspired perseverance.

Leadership is more about perseverance than about speed.
Psalm 132:1 says, "Lord, remember David and all that he suffered." David was one of the greatest—and most successful—leaders in history, yet his life was marked by continual, extreme hardship.

For example, after the prophet Samuel anointed David as the next king, King Saul repeatedly attempted to kill David. David was the anointed leader of History, but he endured a lifetime of hardships as people's shepherd.

So don't be surprised by the drag coefficient of leadership. With God's help, you can endure it and overcome.

then those cowards better not complain when they pay exorbitant tolls, continue to overpay for substandard cars and might as well hand all their monies directly to the corrupt.

Developed countries like US, UK and France for instance, have gone through civil wars, blood shed etc before assuming their present state of progress.

They expect instant reward for change for their minimal effort of putting in a cross in the right box but ignoring the sacrifice, hard work and effort of those really carrying on the effort to make changes.

Always looking for the easy way out.

A struggle to achieve a society and nation of fairness , equality , free of corruption and most important of all the respect for an individual to be able to do what he wants is a long and arduous one.

Hannah Yeoh is one of the ADUN's and MP's who were elected by the people to make this difference. You and others who sacrifice your time and at times under veiled threats by powers that be has to be commended.

I do not want to relive the 51 years of BN rule under threats of 513 , massive corruption , use of all means and laws under the government to oppress the rakyat , bully political opponents both inside and outside the state assembly and Parliament , condone actions of racists and religious extremists and the list goes on.

We need to bulldoze through to transform the politcal culture of change to a more transparent, clean and accountable government.

This country is rich and big enough to provide all Malaysians their rightful place.

We would like to see our wealth used in the most appropriate way to alleviate poor Malaysians out of the poverty line and corporate Malaysia to be leaders in world business and affairs.

Put yourself in Khairy's shoes. In an environment where nobody understands ideals or economic policy, where diction of the day tends to hover around ketuanan Melayu.

What more being a neophyte in politics trying to move his way up the ranks. Trying to garner support from the grassroots. Its a very hard balance to achieve, appealing to umno youth members and then the rest of us.

But what is more important to rise in UMNO? appease them first right? How can he change the party when he has no position or influence just yet. Look at what happened to Razaleigh,Zaid...veterans in umno. It would be the end of his political career if he spoke his mind loud and clear.

Its not easy but i believe if and when he attains that position of influence, he will try his best to change umno and be more in touch with the rest of us.

I choose to view him as a friend in UMNO rather than foe. I also choose to read the khairy chronicles and everything mahathir says with caution. Look behind the rhetoric and you will see that things are not what they seem to be. The actions of politicians are not as straightforward as u think.

Hannah Yeoh is different. She is not in mainstream politics. Therefore she does not really have to spin facts for the nation. Besides her stand (or lack of it) on the issue of crossovers, i think she has managed to stick to her promises.

DAP has been consistent for most years but look at recent events and you will notice that besides karpal singh, DAP has become less vocal on hudud and islamic governance for the sake of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

Its a game of politics. Compromising on tweaking ideals to get to that position of power.

We will find it hard to understand the actions of politicians because we have never been in their position. But lets try to before we judge them.

Hi KJ supporter

Thanks for your considered and long reply. Certainly your points raised begets careful consideration

"Put yourself in Khairy's shoes. In an environment where nobody understands ideals or economic policy, where diction of the day tends to hover around ketuanan Melayu.

What more being a neophyte in politics trying to move his way up the ranks. Trying to garner support from the grassroots. Its a very hard balance to achieve, appealing to umno youth members and then the rest of us."

- if KJ really wanted a better place then had he considered joining other party? Tunku Abdul Aziz decided to join DAP, plenty of space for KJ in PAS before he decided to marry Badawi's daughter instead of Anwar's
- and who is to blame for the general lack of gray matter in Malaysia? The political party KJ want to join and prosper via marriage?

"But what is more important to rise in UMNO? appease them first right? How can he change the party when he has no position or influence just yet."
- are you speculating and really knows his intention?
- the recent debate between him, Toyo and Mukhriz tell us that old UMNO values are very much alive and well.
- if KJ is just playing to the tune for the time being as you suggested, well he is lying to the top and really, not something that would convince or comfort me....

"Its not easy but i believe if and when he attains that position of influence, he will try his best to change umno and be more in touch with the rest of us."

- I hope you are right but 1 man would not change a party

"I choose to view him as a friend in UMNO rather than foe. I also choose to read the khairy chronicles and everything mahathir says with caution. Look behind the rhetoric and you will see that things are not what they seem to be. The actions of politicians are not as straightforward as u think."

- I still remember his kind words "when Malays fight each other, Chinese take advantage"
- as far as I know, when Malays fight, I mind my own business and stay out of the way.

"DAP has been consistent for most years but look at recent events and you will notice that besides karpal singh, DAP has become less vocal on hudud and islamic governance for the sake of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition."

-and PAS changed to "PAS untuk Semua" & Khalid Samad went to a church in Shah Alam on 9th March...instead of harping on old issues, I rather PR focus on more concrete bread and butter issues.

"We will find it hard to understand the actions of politicians because we have never been in their position. But lets try to before we judge them."

- agree, apart from MyTeam, what else that is noble came out from KJ?
- heard the PKR people received aggressive hindrance during the GE in Rembau, CIMB-Avenue Capital issue etc....
- well we need a scoreboard for KJ then

Change is a very difficult process, and a very subjective to everyone. Change is often painful, but it will be worth it if we are to change to the ideals we uphold. This may take years, but we cannot deny the fight, and we must uphold the fight, not for our sake, but for the future of our children which will inherit this earth.

Power and corruption goes hand in hand and can never be eliminated, but we must not lose sight in this. There are no good or bad party, be it BN or PR as absolute power corrupts, sooner or later. BN is being scorned now because they have been enjoying absolute power for the last 50 years. We are hoping for a change in accountability and power balance so no one will be granted absolute power. There are no irreplaceable leader.

What we are striving for is change that we the rakyat, can finally live united as one, as rakyat Malaysia. We can finally unite this country.

This is the change we MUST fight for our children. We OWE them this much as part of our sacrifice.

1) inciting, twisting facts and causing tension via irresponsible rallying calls (hope he still keep the cast that Rice autographed on) ;-P

2)adopting 180 degree changes before and after assumption of position

Sorry if I am a bit touchy as I have a tough day in office, a poor excuse

The only constant is change its self. No pain no gain. The future belongs to those who know no boundary and dare to step into unknown, and willing to withstanding whatever thread, difficulties, disappointment, fear, uncertainty and even calamity. Evil men may seems to prosper but ultimately justice, freedom and equality will finally prevail as light will eventually overcome darkness.
Hannah, keep up the good work.

You are doing a great job YB. No one can deny that. The headlines this morning in the Star "Calling For a Truce" holds weight.
Two years of truce will be good for both parties. Both leaders can strengthen their internal organization instead of trying to break the other party apart via defections. Weak leaders try to win by weakening their enemies; great leaders win by strengthening their own people first.

The economy needs the attention more than the politicking for now.

Our votes go out to the government, who sees the plight of the rakyat in the real times of need, rather than the hold on to power.

YB Hannah Yeoh,

I sympathise with your struggles. Being A Christian, you should be well be very well equipped to know how to handle the burdens and pressures of a politician. For we do not fight with flesh and blood but with principalities.

There are strategies that go beyond just canvassing for support and votes. Opposition leaders need to be more visionary, more optimistic instead of calling this a dark era or proclaiming doomsday for Malaysia.

I hv had just ask my undergraduate son @ MUS to be a voter @ age 21; so that he can continue the 'change' perpetually by casting his vote for the 'righteous' non-BN candidacy; like u, as I can visualise what u hv had done for yr constituency; unlike mine under the BN, I hv 2 deal wit the JPM dept even for pot-holes and signage issue to our proposed revisit crooked CIQ to IR, Sentosa Island as I can't reach out to my non-existence ADUN & MP down south !!

Dear Hannah,

I feel for you. As a citizen of this country, the current situation saddens me but it reminds me very much of having a child - the initial realisation that you are pregnant brings heady joy but then, the pregnancy has its fair share of discomforts & you count the days till you deliver, which in itself is incredibly painful. Then starts the sleepless nights, the depressive days when nothing seems to be going right & you ask yourself why on earth did you decide to do this - the moments of self-doubt creep in...
Through the years of having a child there are wonderful moments, good moments, not-so-good times, really bad times & days where you wonder if it will ever be right.
As parents, we are always wondering if it could have been done better, whether the world will judge us, if we have done right by our children ... there is never a perfect parent, or a perfect child.
And yet, we all (most of us at least) love our parents and we love our children - and we keep the process going...
So, to everyone out there - don't lose heart when you are working/fighting for a better world! Just keep going, especially when you know in your heart that you are doing it for a higher purpose.
God Bless Malaysia and everyone here that is trying in their own ways, big or small, to bring joy to all our fellow citizens.

Dear Hannah

I trust that you stand with God in your fight for justice. Be assured that when God is with you, who can be against you? You will pass the test of fire and be re-elected for more terms. Hang in there for Us and for our next generation.
