Close shave

This morning at about 9:25am, I was driving alone, along USJ 11/1G and I was driving very slowly because of a road hump and as I looked right, I saw a Chinese man on a motorbike right next to me and he was about to take a weapon from underneath his shirt to attack me. I could not see if it was a pistol, a knife or a hammer and all I could do at that time was to honk continuously. The loud honk caused him to turn away and I sped off, drove straight to the shops nearby and rang Chief Inspector Loi. I was only thinking of the next person he would be after in the neighbourhood and so I rang SJ Alert to notify the residents. I hope his motive was robbery and not something else. I thank God for keeping me safe. Please observe your surroundings at all times and be alert.

What a relief! Thank God you are alright. But what precautions should you take?

It is not safe anymore with baddies roaming around while the police's priorities are in the wrong places.

These days, almost everyday friends send warnings about what happened in certain places and we are advised to be careful. But it is like Russian roulette, not knowing who is going to be next. In spite of all the precautions, I notice for anyone targetted, it is difficult to prevent. Some people are already paranoid about the lack of safety yet our leaders are wasting money and efforts.

Please take care.

Dear Hannah, Glad that you're ok,I'm sure you must be going for rounding at USJ11 area and do take care. I live in USJ11/1D and we indeed live in FEAR as my house is right infront of the Shed/Shelter of the USJ11/1 field. I have been monitoring through my CCTV (pointed directly to the field), the hut is frequently a place for meeting and party for "BADDIES" at night with beer cans/bottles seen the next morning. I did complaint to MPSJ for the shed to be relocated and have flood lighting at night surrounding the field to enable the resident to jog or work-out at night instead of allowing the BADDIES to gather....
Do take care and be safe.

I am glad you are safe. Good that you are aware and alert of the surrounding.

In btw, I have a complain about the motorcycle lane streching from Jalan Pantai to Klang parallel to Federal Highway.

I notice metal barricades are erected alongside the lane. But it is poor workmanship. I am a daily user of the motorcycle lane.

I find that the barricades are collapsing too often. The work of the foreign workers is half-past six and sheer waste of tax payer money. I am sure you are going to spend more money to erect it back. Why not do a proper job? Where are the engineers or people from MPSJ to monitor the contractors job?

One day the barricade might collapse and kill someone. HOPEFULLY it's not me!

Please do something! Monitor the contractors. Make sure the people get good infrastructure and value for money. Don't be like the BN blood-suckers..who siphon money by digging the same place in the name of projects for rakyat!

USJ11/1G is not a silent place at 9.25am morning!! Nowadays, have to beware all the time, since those bogus coming out to nab people at any time... What a country we are living now?!

Hi Hannah yeoh.. I think I've met with almost the same incident as you did. I was driving at night along the straight road in between USJ 3&4, leading to SMK USJ12, and a Chinese man on a motorbike rode up to the right side of my car. I saw him reaching at his waist and I quickly sped off, thinking he was about to flash at me. But maybe he was doing what you noticed, taking out a weapon.. thank God nothing happened and I managed to escape a possible crime.

He did try chasing after me, and from my rearview mirror I could see him flashing his bike's headlights at me repeatedly. I turned into another neighbourhood and he finally rode off into the main roads.

Too bad it was too dark (and all I wanted to do was drive off faster, for my LIFE) or I'd have been able to see the number plate of his bike and report it.

I'm relived to know you are not harmed in this incident, though your nerves may be a little unsettled......Do continue to stay alert to your surroundings especially since you need to move around a lot.

Thanks for the alert and glad that you are alright.

I think USJ must have CCTV installed on certain lamp posts,
and they are linked to our USJ
new police station, as well as
the SS17 police station.

This might be costly, but I think
such 24 hours monitoring system
must really be implemented. Such
a system will not 100% stop all the crimes here, but I believe that it will sure help reduce such cases to happen.

I truely hope that such system
can be implemented in our community one day.

Used to live with my hsemate in USJ 11/3C. This chinese guy who comes on a motorbike and with helmet would always stalk on our hse and would throw pebbles on our windows when my hsemate is home alone. First time, my hsemate thought it was my friend as apparently this guy would say he is looking for "mel". My hsemate entertained and told him that i am not home, and guess what he did? He flashed his private area at her and sped off. He came a few times...

wow, that's really shocking!

That's why in Islam, any women/lady must be escorted all the time by someone else (husband, brother, fellow friends of the same gender).

please learn form this lesson and take a very good care of yourself...

Glad that you are safe.

As a USJ resident I would like to say that my house has been broken into, car broken into, people mugged in front of my house, family robbed at knife point,...

This is really bordering on the ridiculous. And our govt is telling us that the seriousness of increasing crime is nothing but a product of media sensationalism.

YB Hannah. I am glad you are alright. Can you ask someone to make a sketch of the man since you said you might be able to recognize him if asked to identify? This will allow the residents to be more watchful as another resident in USJ said he had come across almost an identical incident not too long ago.

I was mugged before in the Malaysia and in the United States. The difference is how the cops handled the similar situations in differnt way.
In malaysia, when people are being robbed, they are asked to report at the police station. By the time they are at the scene of the crime, robbers are long gone. I once logged a police call 999 with a possible robbery with a gun, cops came 15 minutes later. Nothing happened after that.
In Philadelphia, I called to report mugging without gun, cops came within 3 minutes - two patrol cars and three officers on bicycles! The cops asked me for assitance to tracked down the muggers in thier patrol car which I did.Despite not able to track them down, they took me back to my home. Next day, 3 polce officers downtown came personally to my house to take statement and offered assistance of medical and compensation if needed from the City of Philadelphia.
See the differences? It is being highlighted.
I havent seen Malaysian Cops on the bicycles at Subang Jaya especially in busy SS15 and motorbikes making rounds slowly to show pressence as deterence to crimes. Very often seen are police patrol cars parking at lonely spots at main road (i.e.Glenmarie), checking for licence or road tax which should be the responsiblity of JPJ!
For goodness sake, you dont need enforement of guns to take care of road tax or driving without safety belts. BTW, the USA cops dont set up roadblocks to do that! It is just pure luck you get stopped and ticket for that. USA cops are proud to be cops tracking crimes and Malaysia cops are proud to be tracking traffic summons with guns.
IGP should make OCPD accountable why road blocks are set up to issue summons instead of arresting criminals with guns or having thier pressence to deter crimes. A blackbox in the patrol should be handy to keep track of the real cops activities. They should be making partrol rounds at the neighbour where crimes are reported each single day!
Running a restaurant providing decent good meals with no MSG is my job, but tracking criminals is definite not my job as I am only equipped with ovens and pans

I suppose you were lucky this time around. Some neighbors are not, hence they have organized to have fenced communities. Why is MPSJ not very proactive on this matter of safety and security?

Dear Hannah,
I hope you can put crime as your top priority for Subang jaya.

In my area, SS15, there were two cases of carjack within 2 days, including my uncle's car! I wonder what's the crime stats for Subang Jaya now. I think it's gone worse. :-S

I'm beginning to hate the foreigners studying in the various colleges in SS15. Grr!
