Petaling Land Office in SS16 Subang Jaya sold! (Updated)

As promised, here are the details revealed at the State Assembly on the sale of the Petaling Land Office in SS16 Subang Jaya:

On 12 May 2004, the former state government approved the land transfer to Syarikat Gapurna Builders Sdn Bhd by way of 'penswastaan pembinaan' and land swapping. The agreement was signed in 2006.

The size of land involved is 4.14 acre [3.04 acre at Jalan Kemajuan SS16/1 and 1.1 acre of Land Office quarters along Jalan SS19/2].

Syarikat Gapurna Builders Sdn Bhd will, in return for this 4.14 acre of land, build a new 11.19 acre land office in mukim Sungai Buloh for RM24.6 million.

They call this a privatisation project. Because of this land swapping project done in 2006, Syarikat Gapurna Builders Sdn Bhd now owns the 4.14 acre of land and they can use it to develop more commercial buildings in the already-over-congested SS16.

The new state government has said that for the new state government to retain the Petaling Land Office where it is now, we will now have to re-acquire the 4.14 acre of land and also compensate Syarikat Gapurna Builders Sdn Bhd for the cost of building the new office in Sungai Buloh. More overdevelopment gift from the former BN state government to the people of Subang Jaya!

Such deal so-called as "privatization" or putting money into someone's pocket??!!
That's already a very little "surprise" for us after the disclosure of Toyo's mansion. There is no doubt more scams are coming in days to come.

Yes,yes, more corrupt projects from the past corrupt people. Expose all of them for the rakyat to see and judge for themselves. Vote for the people who help the citizen but not themselves.

Reading the Sun paper this morning. The MACC has seized files from the seven state assemblymen from Selangor and interview the recipients of the allocation. Our PM talk about 1Malaysia but his warlords are doing JUST the opposite, why can't the PM stop all this nonsense, the least he can do. Mr. PM, the YBs that your warlords are harrasing are dedicated, hardworking and good YBs.

After 50 years, most people are becoming cynical and suspicious of government initiatives.

What I would like to know is, whose idea was it to have a brand new Land Office building in Sg. Buloh?

Very often, there were no real reasons other than someone's ego or more likely someone with an ulterior motive having eyed the piece of land, and the chance to enrich themselves for those in decision making.

Like what I have observed in Batu Gajah, for eg. the new railway station and the new Majlis building, the local people do not find them convenient at all! After all the huge costs involved, the most important sector of people were never consulted or their objections not taken note of.

In Europe, where rail travel is the norm, nobody bothers about the size of the stations but whether there are designated stops convenient to the people. Where our twin tower steel came from, next to the steel factory in Differdange in Luxembourg, I can remember only a bench available yet it was so convenient for commuters.

In fact, how I wish Batu Gajah would consider having the old rail station as a designated stop, even for limited schedules, for the convenience of the locals. I would not be surprised if 90% of travellers preferred this to the brand new impressive station which serves its own staff at the railway workshop more than the locals.

Kosong

I share your frustration as a PJ resident. What else is new with BN administrations? Reap fast money and let the others handle the shit! :(

At the end of the day, the state govt and/or municipality can reject whatever redevelopment plans on the old Land Office. This would force Gapurna Builders Sdn Bhd give up the piece of land since they cannot profit from it.

Reject plans to redevelop the old Land Office? Anon has a good idea, if that can be done continously and mindfully. Yucks, as more shit is being dug up, i'm feeling really disgusted at BN's 50 years of exploitation of the ordinary rakyat. So clever to play the racial game to divide and rule, while finding places where the people in power can screw the rakyat. in the name of development, why put a Govt office in a really far out location instead of a central place which is convenient to more people. it sounds like Kosong cafe's notes on the new railway station which is inconveniently located.
