The price of our safety: RM500,000

Today we read of UMNO-BN's peace offering of RM500,000 to the Metro Tabernacle Church. And for those who have not realized it yet, this was immediately followed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) requesting churches to 'have their own security because there isn't enough policemen'. Only a day earlier, the IGP released a statement claiming that he had directed patrol teams to monitor churches nationwide, along with an explicit assurance that all Malaysians are safe. What sort of assurance is this if now the churches are required to ensure their own safety? What game is the Home Minister and the UMNO-BN government playing? It is completely unacceptable for the IGP to abdicate his responsibility in a time such as this. What price do you place on the lives of Malaysians?

from the Polis Diraja Malaysia Website, they have a hundred and two thousand officers, but the are not able to take care of 200 churches in Kuala lumpur and Selangor. Even if it is 5 polis per church that is only 1000 to 3000 police officers going on a 24 hour shift.

what are we supposed to do? Fight the arsonist with our bare hands??

Polis Diraja Malaysia terdiri daripada 102,037 orang pegawai (Polis Diraja Malaysia consists of 102,037 officers and members) dan anggota.

IGP asks churches to increase security as not enough cops
By YUEN MEIKENG

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan has advised churches to tighten the security at their premises as there are not enough police officers to guard them.

He said the churches may up the security by hiring guards as the police force did not have enough manpower to keep watch at every church.

"In Petaling Jaya alone, there are 62 churches and a total of 200 in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

"Not only do we have to watch churches, but we also have to cover mosques and monitor other places of worship," he told reporters during his visit to the Metro Tabernacle Church at Desa Melawati here Saturday.

Musa added that police were still investigating the attack on the church and confirmed there were currently a total of four cases of churches being attacked.

"We have yet to determine the nationality of those responsible for the attacks," he said, adding that witnesses were still assisting in investigations.

He said since he revealed his handphone number to the public on Friday, he had received a total of 900 calls and 800 SMS-es.

"I received a lot of information on various crimes. There were some people from churches who have asked us to step up the level of security at their premises," Musa said.

He added that while some people have also called him to thank the police for their efforts, there were many who also made crank calls to him by calling him but not speaking.

Hello Hannah, All the ministries are the same even the police or macc. When ask they will answer without going through their brain. Then when question they will turn around the next day. I won't be surprise if it come under pressure for fairness, tomorrow the 500K will change to be share by all the 4 churches. As for security the police is already laughing away with the g&g system in housing area so the igp is quick to suggest the same to churches. In future this will include citizen, you want to be secure employ your own private police guard. Its going to be a good idea for our poor country if the police are listed for hire. If our mother want to go to market just call for a police security on the hourly basis at a hourly rate. Yes that is what 1Malaysia Boleh.

Remember the RM 500,000 is your money and my money, the taxpayers' money.

Let us not be so quick to judge and make comments about the statements. Let it not be knee jerk responses that we make. Analyse what we are saying ... and how what we say will be interpreted. I'm sorry Hannah, maybe what I understood is not what you meant, but unfortunately what it came across as is a very biased and uncalled for remark on your part.

YB, may be you will like to read some articles from the websites:
http://www.acommonword.com/index.php?lang=en&page=option1 Come to a Common Word! The basis for this peace and understanding already exists. It is part of the very foundational principles of both faiths: love of the One God, and love of the neighbour. These principles are found over and over again in the sacred texts of Islam and Christianity. - the common ground between Islam and Christianity. (Aal ‘Imran 3:64) (Al-Mumtahinah, 60:8) (Aal-‘Imran, 3:113-115) (Mark 12:29-31) Let this common ground be the basis of all future interfaith dialogue between us, for our common ground is that on which hangs all the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 22:40). So let our differences not cause hatred and strife between us. Let us vie with each other only in righteousness and good works. Let us respect each other, be fair, just and kind to another and live in sincere peace, harmony and mutual goodwill

I hope there will positive sign; other countries are having dialogue on common word, one god and love the neighbor as the two commandment as common ground; and yet we are fighting on the ONE word.
Shame....
As respected and responsible YB, we should tell people the truth

May God bless you.

Here we have pre-believers from BN, Pakatan etc. coming together to worship God. I pray that that the seed of their salvation is planted by what they witness at the worship session @MCA HQ, and that God move mightily to bring all men and women to salvation in Christ Jesus.

PM's view on protest within the mosque area has somehow encouraged those who intended to expand this issue. So no thanks to PM, the RM500K doesn't come from his pocket anyway, they are from the tax payers' own pockets.

Secondly, some idiot ministers' view on this issue have also given much encouragement to those who wanted to make this issue worst.

There's something fishy in the whole episode. For those evil-minded people who purposely created the chaos with the intention to distract Malaysians from issues they are not happy with, please bear in mind there should be a limit to everything you do. GOD is watching from above and rakyat are not stupid also. I believe most people can guess why all these are happening.

well... the situation "is under control" according to them.

its akin to having a serial murderer/rapist on the loose with no leads on where he is or where he's gonna strike next. and it's still "under control".

i think the pre-requisite for holding top positions in the BN government is brains. the lack of it i mean

To this racist and corrupt regime, they always think that MONEY can "kow tim" everything, good or bad.

Please read the two speeches by PAS and umno Presidents one day after the Church bombing and the protest at the mosque and take this poll:

Poll : Which Party Do You Trust And Are More Sincere When Talking About Islam To The Non Muslim Malaysians

People always talks as seems they can do better handling a situation, the police is doing what can possibly be done & so does the government, of course incident happens but most importantly it does not oscillate to a degree like in thai or indonesia where heads been cut over religion issues. When some party give money we say, its a bribe or cover up, when they dont then we say they dont care, there will always be a 2 sided statement but what we really need to ask is what have we done to help? besides leaving nasty remarks about people who tried to help us.

To orange_girl,
what help are u talking about?? I think we all can agree that money is not the kind of help that the churches require. Security and protection is the best help that the PM can provide. This throwing out of money is BN's cheap and easy way of trying to be seen to be helping. You read the remarks by the IGP and decide for yourself if he's really serious in "helping"!

Dear Orange-girl

If the situation is as simple & real as what you think, everyone here will be happy to the solution offered.

Unfortunately most of the things you read from the government controlled mainstream newspapers do not reflect the real situation:). Those who left comments here clearly know about this, and their remarks are to warn someone they are not blind & dumb.

Till the day you & those who back your views understand & do not swallow everything fed by the mainstream papers, Malaysia's future is at stake. It's only by constant reminding and warning to someone that "I know what you are trying to do", then that someone will think twice before doing evil things which will ruin our country.

You see, those who follow this blog do love Malaysia much more than you can imagine. Pls wake up !
