Town Hall for new parking system in Taipan

My office and Jawatankuasa Penduduk Zone 3 hosted a town hall session in MPSJ last week to gather feedback from residents and business owners on the new parking system in Taipan, USJ 10.

The trial period for the hourly parking in Taipan will end in March 2010 and MPSJ will then review the effectiveness of this new system. This new hourly parking will encourage business owners and their employees to park their cars in the private car park owned by Corporate Parking (Corporate Parking agreed to match their season parking stickers from RM105 to RM80 a month ie. MPSJ's rate).

This change has increased the number of season parkers in Corporate Parking from 350 to 500 users. This simply means at every hour there are at least 150 public parking bays freed up all around Taipan for customers and residents to use. Read the news report on this from The Star "Parking limit proves effective".

Hi Hannah
the parking problem in Taipan is an problem but the bigger issue is the traffic jams caused by Double or Trible parking, thus narrowing down the road.

We need MPSJ to have a mobile enforcement personnel (on motorbike) circulating the area and moving cars on preventing this haphazard parking.

I hope the authority can continue with the hourly parking system in Taipan USJ. Despite some complaints from certain sector, I feel overall it has prove to be quite effective to curb the double and triple-parkings in the area.

Being a Subang Jaya resident of more than 20 years, I have my fair share of parking woes. Believe it or not, I can actually find a parking space NOW during the busy hours! Pls keep the system! Thank you.

The one hour car park limit looks to be proving its worth and effectiveness.
Aside a note for the car park operators. In some countries and places. The upper tier levels ( 2nd floor upwards ) can be categorised/priced/designated as season parking levels, whilst the ground floor levels are classified premium levels. It encourages speedier car park turnovers for short term parking on lower floors.

Overall, the new parking system is a step in the right direction.

The 1 hr parking is a good start, but not good enough. Why not introduce 30 mins or even 15 mins especially near post office, banks, utilities offices where people run short errands without the hassle of fighting for a parking spot. The drawback is the enforcement, without which the whole exercise is futile. It is common knowledge that you can buy your way through bribery. Thus it is up to the authorities to come up with proper by-laws to ensure parking attendants or even officers to enforce them dutifully and responsibly.

I would like to suggest that the 1 hour parking system change to 2 hours parking system, the reason being that - Most of us require about 2 hours to do our biz transactions and to attend meetings, lunch engagements too needs more than an hour.
The idea of short term parking is good, just be more practical

Im glad that you are sticking to the time limited system.

Regarding the suggestion for introducing 2 hour parking, may I suggest that maximum 2 hour parking be permitted on the lower floor of the parking structure and all the 'outside' parking lots (the ones that face out towards the main roads).

However, all 'inside' parking lots (the ones that face shoplots) should remain as 1 hour maximum parking.

There should also be maximum waiting times of 10-15 minutes around banks.

The 1 hours parking system is great step for the busy area such as taipan.
But when will it be introduce at SS15? And there is too many college students took up the parking space for whole day. Also will there built a parking lot for the people who are go to work at SS15?
